About the role:

We have an exciting and rewarding support opportunity to share with you located in Parap Darwin. Our client is a female in her mid-40s with Down Syndrome and chronic lymphoedema. The client enjoys an active social life.

We are looking for an outgoing person to join our team to support our fun loving and outgoing client. You will be supporting the client for community access using your own car (mileages are paid).

  • Support times and frequency:
    • Tuesday 11.30 - 13.30 - Gym
    • Wednesday 11.30 - 13.30 - Swimming at Parap pool
    • Thursday 11.30 - 13.30 - Change bed linen prior to social outing for lunch
    • Friday 16.00 - 19.00 - Social outing to play pool, music and dinner

Your key responsibilities:

Our team is looking for a dedicated and passionate Disability Support Worker who can undertake the following key responsibilities:

  • Personal care
  • Domestic assistance
  • Rehabilitation exercises
  • Companionship
  • Community Access

About you:

To join the team, we are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Personal care experience
  • Current First aid and CPR
  • NDIS Screening Card
  • Nationally Accredited Manual handling certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Minimum Certificate 3 in community services/ individual support
  • Reliable car
  • NT full driving licence
  • Comprehensive car insurance

Essential:

  • Great communication skills
  • Interactive personality
  • A caring and supportive nature
  • Have knowledge on Down Syndrome, Lymphedema, hearing and vision impaired
  • Confident in water
