About the role
We have an exciting and rewarding support opportunity to share with you. Located in Aspendale Gardens, you will be part of a care team to Drake Medox are seeking enthusiastic and hard-working support workers for to do a morning, afternoon and night shifts on weekdays and weekends with some more flexibility to cover as a backup.
Our client is living in Aspendale Gardens with an Incomplete C3 Quadriplegia and requires support workers to join their team on a casual basis on fixed ongoing bases. Our ideal candidate would receive client specific training with stable, consistent hours. Due to the nature and complexity of the client's needs, you will need to have relevant disability experience. An extensive onboarding program will be provided with buddy shifts to help you with your transition.

Your key responsibilities
Our team is looking for a dedicated and passionate who can undertake the following key responsibilities:

  • 1:1 Manual handling skills
  • Personal care
  • Independently mobilises in wheelchair
  • Assistance and supervision for transfers, meal preparation and community access
  • Requires assistance for bowel and bladder care overnight pressure area care
  • Client verbal and can direct care as needed
  • Strict daily routine followed
  • Continence management
  • Medication administration
  • Domestic assistance
  • Light household duties & meal preparation

About you

To join the team, we are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience with Quadriplegia
  • Manual handling experience
  • Personal care experience
  • Current First aid and CPR
  • NDIS Screening Clearance
  • Manual handling certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Medication certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Minimum Certificate 3 in health care.

We are also looking for someone with great communication skills, who works well in a team, has a caring and supportive nature, and is client focused.
