Anaesthetics Theatre Nurse

Employment Type: Permanent - Full-Time / Part-Time

A fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced Anaesthetics Theatre Nurse to join a dynamic perioperative team within one of New South Wales' respected private hospitals, part of a leading national healthcare group. In this key role, you'll provide safe, effective, and patient-centred care throughout the anaesthetic phase of surgical procedures.

Working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams, you'll help ensure optimal patient outcomes and the smooth operation of theatre services.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the anaesthetic environment, equipment, and medications for procedures

  • Support anaesthetists during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia

  • Monitor and respond to patient needs throughout the perioperative journey

  • Operate and manage anaesthetic equipment safely and effectively

  • Conduct pre-op assessments including allergies, consent, and anaesthetic history

  • Maintain infection control and sterile protocols

  • Complete post-operative handovers and clinical documentation

  • Contribute to the training and mentoring of junior team members

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies


Skills & Experience Required:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a perioperative or anaesthetics nursing role (desirable)

  • Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing (Anaesthetics) highly regarded

  • Strong clinical judgement and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach

  • Ongoing commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice
